Upon launching Toad, the user receives an error stating "Exception ERegistryException in Module Toad.exe. Invalid Data Type for 'Path.'"
WORKAROUND:
Go to Start | Run | REGEDIT,
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
PATH variable
Verify that this path is a Sting value and not a binary value.
For example a typical path would be a sting value with the following value
C:\oracle\ora90\bin;C:\PROGRA~1\PVCS\vm\win32\bin;C:\PROGRA~1\PVCS\vm\common\bin\win32;C:\oracle\ora90\Apache\Perl\5.00503\bin\mswin32-x86;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin;C:\Oracle\bin;C:\Oracle\Apache\Perl\5.00503\bin\mswin32-x86;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem
Note: All system paths are not identical. These rely on what programs are installed on a particular System.
If the path contains numbers before the path variables these must be deleted.
Perform a back up the registry entry. Re-name or Delete the old path entry. Create a new path entry as a sting value. For the Value, enter the entire path without the Numbers. Reboot the machine.
