Connection bar does not move the current connection to the main window when having more then 8 connections or so.
Confirmed that in Toad 10.6.1, when 8 or more connections are made, the Connection bar display a dropdown on the top right hand side. When selecting a connection from the dropdown, the connection will be focus and move from the dropdown to one of the visible places in the main connection bar screen.
In Toad 11.5.1 the focus is on the connection in the dropdown but it doesn't move the active connection to the main visible connection bar screen at the top.
Workaround:
1. Go to View | Toad Option | Toolbars/Menu | Toolbars
2. Check the option "Multi-line Connection Bar"
3. Click on Apply and OK
This will remove the connection bar dropdown on the top right hand side and make all connections visible.
