Slow connection to an Oracle 10.2.0.2 database -
Description
It can take 45 to 56 seconds to establish a connection to an Oracle 10.2 database. Connection to a 10.1 database takes approximately 3 seconds.

Cause
The use of "ROWNUM" in the query, to populate the schema drop down, caused an excessive amount of time when auto logging onto a DB.

Resolution
WORKAROUND:
Make sure that the "show all users" option is checked. This option can be found by going to VIEW | OPTIONS | Schema Browser | Data | User/Schema Lists.
STATUS:
Issue fixed in version 9.01. The latest version of Toad for Oracle can be downloaded here. -
