Editor Does Not Default to File Extension, Gives Filename the above file name is invalid

If one opens a file with a wild card filter (*.*) All files, this setting is retained when trying to Save code in a new tab. The user is expecting the file extension to be the default .sql, however, Toad for Oracle 10.6.1 still retains the wildcard extension and thus generates a “The above file name is invalid.” in the Save as pop-up window. Toad for Oracle did not act this way in version 10.5.
Resolution

WORKAROUND:
1. Define the full name of file and its extension
-OR-
2. Select the file type in the save dialog before clicking Save.
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future version of Toad for Oracle.

How to reproduce:

a) Open a new editor.
b) Click the File Open (open folder) icon in the toolbar to display the Open dialog.
c) In the "Files of type" pulldown, select "All Files (*)"
d) Select a file and click Open.
e) Click the "Create new tab" button in the editor toolbar.
f) Type in SELECT * FROM dual;
g) Click the Save button in the toolbar to display the Save As dialog. Notice that "Save as type" is still set to "All Files (*)"
h) Enter a file name without an extension and click Save. An error such as the attached is displayed.
