Starting with Toad for Oracle 12.1, Pluggable database is supported.
Oracle 12c introduces a major new feature called “pluggable databases” – this architectural change is monumental. Prior to Oracle 12c a database instance (i.e. collection of shared memory and processes) mapped to one database (i.e. collection of control, online redo and data files). With this architecture if one wanted to consolidate multiple databases from different hosts onto one big server, such as an Oracle Exadata server, then there would be many duplicate copies of the “instance” memory and processes for each database.
Note: Pluggable database administration is accessed through the 'Database Browser', which requires the 'DB Admin Module' Add-On on your Toad license key. The 'DB Admin Module' Add-On does not automatically come with the different Toad Editions. To check if you have it, please go to the Help menu | Licensing and look for 'DB Admin Module' under Add-Ons or Options.
