There is too much going on with the parenthetic highlights in the editor. They are a highlight color, bolded, have a highlight box around the parentheses, and a dotted line outline of the highlight boxes. How can it be made to just have a highlighted background?
1. Select View|Toad Options|Editor-Behavior
2. Click the Edit button in the Languages section of this window
3. Select the Highlighting tab
4. Highlight ( ) in Styles list
5. Under Font Style, uncheck Bold and Underline
6. Under Borders, select the blank border (first in drop down) in each left, top, right, bottom
7. To choose the background color you would like select the color in the drop down next to Background.
8. Hit OK
