This Solution describes the changes needed for Toad International to support multibyte character sets (such as Japanese, Korean, or Chinese).
1. Install Windows language support:
a. Go to Control Panel | Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options | Add Other Languages.
b. Go to Languages tab and check "Install files for East Asian languages"
c. Hit Apply. It will run and ask you to insert your windows install disk.
d. Go to Advanced tab and make sure the languages you want to use are checked.
e. Reboot.
2. In the Windows Registry, under the clients Oracle Home, change NLS_Lang to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8".
**NOTE: When running non-international Toad for Oracle version the client's NLS_Lang should not be set to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8". It is suggested to change this in the registry depending on which version of Oracle you are using. "AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8" for International Toad and what it is set to as default for non-international Toad.**
3. Go to View | Options | Data Grids - Visual and make sure the following are set as such:
a. Under Fonts click on the Grid... button.
b. Select the @Arial Unicode MS font.
c. Select the language desired script at the bottom.
d. Click OK.
Note: Do the same steps when clicking on the Header... button as well and click OK on the Toad Options window.
