Package specs are being committed with .PKG extension, instead of .PKS

When committing a package spec to VCS, it is using a .PKG extension, instead of .PKS, which is the proper extension loaded in VCS.  Previous versions of Toad for Oracle have allowed the use of the .PKS extension.  How can v12.7 be configured to use the .PKS extension?

Team coding saves object files to VCS using specific file extensions for each object type (eg .TBL for tables).  In 12.6 and prior versions these file extensions were user customizable.  In 12.7 file extension values were hard-coded and could no longer be customized.  For users upgrading from 12.6 or prior versions to 12.7.0, TC would no longer recognize previously used file extensions in VCS and use new values only, resulting in lost revision history.  For users who have patched 12.7.0 to 12.7.1 they could get other errors when checking out/in packages and/or types, for example:
