After upgrade, connecting to a database takes a long time.
Un-installing and re-installing Toad in a different directory: Here is the direction below to help you guide through with the process.
*NOTE - PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR LICENSE INFO HANDY.
*TRIAL LICENSE KEYS WILL BE VOIDED / UNUSABLE.
***If several version are installed, this procedure will need to be done for each of them OR each Toad folder in the Quest Software directory.
1. Select Start | Programs | Quest Software | "Un-install TOAD".
2. Use the Option "Custom" un-install.
3. Click the "Select All" button to select all files to be removed, then click "Next" button.
4. Several more similar screens will appear. Do the same on all of them, until the Finish button is reached.
5. Click Finish.
6. Verify that there are no Toad Folders or shortcut items left on the computer (perform a Search/Find for "Toad" ). Also, select Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, and verify that there are no Formatter Plus installations listed. If any Formatter Plus installations are found, click "Remove" and walk through the uninstall process.
7. Restart the computer if it's okay to do so (recommended).

8. Download a fresh copy of Toad from SupportLink (recommended).

9. Execute the new downloaded Toad Setup file
10. When prompted, change the "Destination Directory" to i.e. Toad 8.6 (8.6 means the current version of Toad being installed).
11. Continue the Installation until finished.
