When using the "SaveAs" feature with "XLS Instance" from the data grid of the SQL Editor or Schema Browser in v8.5.x of TOAD, the leading zeros are missing in the Excel worksheet.
Steps to Replicate:
1. Execute the following DDL:
create table zero_test (a varchar2(25));
insert into zero_test values ('010');
2. Execute a SELECT statement against the table
select * from zero_test2;
3. Right-click on the data grid and select "SaveAs"
4. Select the "XLS Instance" option and hit "OK"
The XLS worksheet that opens will show the value of "10" instead of "010."
WORKAROUND:
In the Save As options window the String Fields as Strings check box needs to checked.
STATUS:
Issue fixed in version 9.0.1. The latest version of Toad for Oracle can be downloaded at: http://support.quest.com/support_download/Downloads.asp
