I got the error "The Toad for DB2 installer has detected an existing 32-bit DB2 environment on your computer. However, DB2 does not allow both 32-bit and 64-bit DB2 environments to exist on the same computer" when trying to install Toad For DB2 5.2.
There is not a 32-bit client on my computer.
In fact Toad for DB2 5.1 is working fine on the same computer with the 64-bit client.
The existence of the IBM Data Server Driver on the machine is what is causing the issue.
Unfortunately IBM product uses the same registry hierarchy as official DB2 clients and DB2 servers when it gets installed.
The IBM Data Server is an IBM program that installs binaries that only contain the db2app.dll (32-bit) binary (it does not install a DB2 client\instance environment).
In the future we will have to determine logic for the installer to ignore the IBM DATA SERVER DRIVER installations when checking for the existence of installed DB2 clients.
WORKAROUND
Uninstall the IBM Data Server component.
After Toad DB2 is installed successfully and the IBM data server component is re-installed again you can use this below work around to be able to use Toad DB2 v5.2.
Create a new PROFILES registry key under the InstalledCopies\IBMDBCL1 level as shown on the attached screesnshot
(assuming IBMDBCL1 is the name of your IBM Data Server Package DB2 name):
Also, please note that the 64-bit registry key is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM\DB2\InstalledCopies\IBMDBCL1\PROFILES]
