How to access and use the Export Wizard?
1. Select Tools | Export Wizard from the menu. The Welcome page of the Export wizard displays.
2. Click Next and complete the following fields in the Select Objects page:
Export Category: Select whether you want to export data from tables, views, or databases. If you select Databases, you can also select whether to export data from tables and views.
Database: If you selected Tables or Views as the export category, select the database/schema from which you want to export tables from the drop-down list. You can filter the list of available databases/schemas by clicking .
Tables/Views/ Databases: Select the checkbox beside each table, view, or database/schema from which you want to export data.
3. Click Next and complete the following fields in the Output Options page:
Output Format: Select the format to use for the output from the drop-down list.
Column delimiter: If you selected Delimited Text, enter the delimiter to use for separating columns.
String quote character: Enter the character to use to if the data contains strings with quotes.
Column names for first row: Select this checkbox to include column headers in the first row of the exported data.
Always quote strings/char: Select this checkbox to always include quotes around strings or characters.
Add Excel worksheets if row limit reached: If you selected Excel File as the output format, select this checkbox to add additional worksheets if the data for an object exceeds the 65536 row limit for the worksheet. If you do not select this option, and an object exceeds the row limit during the export, you are prompted to add a new worksheet or skip exporting the remaining data for that object.
Default fixed width column size: If you selected Fixed Column Width as the output format, enter the width to use for all columns.
Read rows increment: Enter the number of rows to read from the database before writing the data to the file and clearing the memory to read more rows.
File encoding: Select the type of encoding to apply to exported data.
Script Options Note: The following options are only available if you selected INSERT Statements as the output format.
Fully qualify object name: Select this checkbox to include the schema name and owner in each INSERT statement.
Creation script: Select this checkbox to include a create object script for the selected object before the INSERT statements.
Set Identity: Insert on Select this checkbox to add a SET IDENTITY_INSERT ON statement at the beginning of the INSERT statements, and a SET IDENTITY_INSERT OFF statement to the end of the statements.
Single object output name: The schema name and object name displays in the fields.
Schema/User: If you selected a single table or view to export, you can specify an alternate schema/owner name to use in the generated INSERT statements.
Object: If you selected a single table or view to export, you can specify an alternate table or view name to use in the generated INSERT statements.
4. Click Next and complete the following fields in the Advanced Options page:
Object: Select each object for which you want to exclude individual columns from the exported data.
Include: Clear the checkbox beside each column you want to exclude from the exported data.
5. Click Next and complete the following fields in the Output Location page:
Location: Select whether to export the data to a file or a clipboard. If you select a file, you must specify a location for the file.
Existing file: If you selected File for the output and the file already exists in that location, you can overwrite the existing file, prompt to save the file with a different name, or add a suffix to the new file's name.
6. Click Finish.
