Resolution
To connect to Maria DB with ed25519 authentication plugin you must download the MariaDB Java connector and configured it in Toad Edge.
The driver MariaDB Connector/J can be downloaded here:
https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb-connector-j/To configure a connection:
1. Right-click your MaribaDB connection in Connections and select Properties.
2. Select Driver Settings.
3. Select the recently download MariaDB/J connector.
