Error "Unable to cast object of type 'Quest.Toad.Oracle.Proxy.OracleProxyConnection" after being prompted to change expired Oracle password. (4309036)

After being prompted to change an Oracle expired password, the following error occurs on clicking 'OK':

System.InvalidCastException:

Unable to cast object of type 'Quest.Toad.Oracle.Proxy.OracleProxyConnection' to type 'Devart.Data.Oracle.OracleConnection'.

WORKAROUND

1. Close Toad
2. Bring up a command line
3. Login to sqlplus i.e. sqlplus username/password@dbname
4. At this point you will be prompted to change the expired password
5. Once logged in, type exit to quit sqlplus
6. Relaunch Toad | right click the connection | Properties
7. Change password to reflect the new one | Connect
