Services - Service Not Running Alarms

A Services - Service Not Running alarm is raised when a SQL Server supporting service is installed but not active.

Alarm Monitored Service
SQL Agent - Status Alarm SQL Server Agent (SQLServerAgent) service
Services - DTC Service Status Alarm Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service
Services - Full Text Search Service Alarm Full-Text Search (Microsoft Search) service
Services - Integration Service Status Alarm The SQL Server Integration service
Services - Reporting Service Status Alarm The SQL Server Reporting service
Services - Service Not Running Alarm Microsoft OLAP/Analysis (MSSQLServerOLAPService) service

When the alarm is raised

  • Open the SQL Server | Support Services Drilldown | Service Status page. See the status of all known SQL Server support services.
  • Review messages in the SQL Server | Error Log Drilldown to determine the reason why the service is not running.
  • Restart the affected service if necessary. This can be done from the Service Status page. Right-click the service in the Services Status grid.
