Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise 11.7 - Release Notes

Enable disk counters

Spotlight on SQL Server cannot display some disk information properly unless the Windows server being monitored has disk performance counters enabled. This affects the Disk Activity component on the home page, various I/O charts on the SQL I/O Activity tab and Windows Activities drilldowns, and disk graphs on the Databases drilldown.

Spotlight on SQL Server raises the Disk Counters alarm if it detects that disk counters are not enabled on the Windows server being monitored.

To enable disk data collection

  1. Open a command line window on the Windows server.
  2. Type the following at the command prompt: diskperf -y
  3. Restart the Windows server.
