Spotlight on SAP ASE 2.12 - Release Notes

Async I/O

The number of asynchronous reads and writes across all active databases in the instance. This value shows the number of page cleaners¾and sometime prefetchers¾that are reading data and index pages into buffer pools and writing buffer pool pages to the disk. These reads and writes are asynchronous because they are not part of the processing of program instructions¾and therefore can run in parallel with database agent processes.

Note: In a multiple-partition database, information is presented for each active partition on the system. An All Nodes row keeps a running total for all partitions. In a single-partition database, only the All Nodes information is presented.
