The average amount of time spent performing direct reads for a tablespace. The time is shown in milliseconds. Direct reads directly access the tablespace and bypass the buffer pool. They are used to read VARCHAR and LOB (large object) column data during disk queries and backups. A high average direct read time could be a symptom of I/O conflict. To see elapsed direct read time, check Direct Read Time (msec) in the Tablespace Details tab.
