The average amount of time spent performing direct writes for a table space. The time is shown in milliseconds. Direct writes directly access the tablespace and bypass the buffer pool. They are used to write VARCHAR and LOB (large object) column data during disk queries, data loads, and data restores. A high average direct write time could be a symptom of I/O conflict. To see elapsed direct write time, check Direct Write Time (msec) in the Tablespace Details tab.
