Action

The operating system command, such as the name of an executable or batch file, that Spotlight runs to perform an action when a home page component reaches the related severity. For example, this command can run a pager message or send an email. If necessary, include the complete path for the file.

You can also include any of the following variables in the command:

  • { connect} ¾Inserts the name (as defined on the database server) of the current DB2 or database being monitored.

  • { name} ¾Inserts the name of the component currently experiencing the severity

For example, if you want a Windows Notepad file to open when a home page component for a database called database1 reaches this severity, enter the following command in the Action field:

notepad { connect}.txt

When a component on database1 reaches the severity, Windows Notepad attempts to open a file called database1.txt.

The associated every… mins list box shows the frequency (in minutes) that Spotlight performs the action once the severity is reached. If you enter the value 0 (zero), the action is executed only once.

Note: Always type the variable name in lower case.
