Spotlight on DB2 6.10 - Release Notes

Agent Request Overflows component

The Agent Request Overflows component tracks the number of times requests for an agent were made after the limit set by the MAXAGENTS database manager configuration parameter was reached.

Required monitor switch

None

Displayed statistic

At each refresh, Spotlight captures the following statistic and displays it for the Agent Request Overflows component.

Number of agent overflows—After the MAXAGENTS limit has been reached, an application looks for idle associated agents currently residing in the instance. If the application must look for an idle associated agent, the appropriated agent is said to be stolen. If no idle agents are available, the agent request is queued until one can be obtained or created.

If the MAXAGENTS limit is exceeded on a regular basis, it is probable that the workload is too high.

Associated drilldown

Click the Agents Request Overflows component to open the Database Manager Summary drilldown. This drilldown provides details about all the active databases and partitions in the DB2 instance and helps you pinpoint problem activity.
