Spotlight on DB2 6.10 - Getting Started Guide

Direct Write Rate

The W/s dataflow depicts the rate of direct writes to the database or partition. Direct writes are database requests that bypass buffer pools to write LONG VARCHAR or large object (LOB) data directly to the database or partition or to perform database restores and loads.

Required monitor switch

Buffer Pool

Displayed statistic

At each refresh, Spotlight captures the following statistic and displays it just above the read rate dataflow:

W/s (direct write rate)—The number of direct writes per second at the database or partition level.

Graph

The line graph that overlays the dataflow plots the direct write rate captured over the series of refreshes that have occurred during the Spotlight session.

Associated drilldown

Click the W/s dataflow to open the Databases drilldown. This drilldown provides details about database or partition that you are monitoring. The I/O tab on the drilldown is in immediate focus to help you pinpoint I/O flow problems in the database or partition.
