Installation prerequisites

Before installing the plug-in, ensure that the requirements outlined in the following topics are met on the machine that is to serve as the Exchange Server.

Disabling Circular Logging

If either an Incremental or Differential Backup type is to be created, ensure that Circular Logging is disabled. The Exchange Server overwrites files if Circular Logging is enabled, making it impossible to reliably restore from the transaction logs. For more information about Backup Types, see Reviewing the backup types. To disable Circular Logging, perform the steps in the applicable topic:

Open the Exchange Management Console.

Expand Server Configuration, and expand the applicable server.

On the Properties dialog box, clear the Enable circular logging check box, and click OK.

Close the Exchange Management Console, and restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for the change to take effect.

Open the Exchange Management Console.

Navigate to Organization Configuration > Mailbox.

On the Database Management tab, select the applicable database, and click Properties.

On the Properties dialog box, select the Maintenance tab, clear the Enable circular logging check box, and click OK.

Close the Exchange Management Console, and restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for the change to take effect.
