Migration Manager for Email Archives 10.0 - Operator Guide


Migration Manager for Email Archives includes pre-built reports that can be scheduled to be delivered to recipients. This is controlled on the Scheduled Reports page.

This report shows export and import performance in a bar graph, both as a summary and per source link for:

Stage 2 Report

This report shows information related to Stage 2, including:

Failed Item Report

This report shows items that failed migration. The report is divided up per link, and shows:

Each report can be configured to email one or more recipients. They’re controlled via separate schedules. Or, they can be sent immediately using the Send Now button.

NOTE: Before sending reports, you need to update information on the System Configuration > SMTP Settings page.

System Health

This dashboard provides an administrator with an overview of storage and other health parameters that may affect the migration. If a problem is detected, a yellow triangle with a number displays. The number corresponds to the number of problem types.

The page is divided into the following sections:


Information related to the status of modules. Modules with issues are shown with a warning symbol. Hover your mouse over those items to see more information.

In addition, this page shows details about credentials that were configured to be used by the system to access resources.

Storage Paths

Shows information about the storage paths used by the system.


Any retention categories that are not mapped to a target environment display here.


Status events are shown on this page. Contact Quest Support to receive a list of events that may be displayed.


Details related to environment sync activities display on this page.

Free space on a staging area location is color coded, as shown below:

No highlighting

Free space is above 100 Gb


Free space is below 100 Gb


Free space is near to 50 Gb

In addition, the System Health page gives an overview of any modules that are disabled or otherwise not running. This is shown at the top left of the screen.

The Link information on the storage paths tab also highlights the used space on each link. Used space is defined as the amount of exported data that has not yet been imported. This is also color coded to make it easy to identify a potential problem:

No highlighting

Used space is within normal parameters


Used space is between 75% and 90% of the maximum allowed


Used space is above 90% of the maximum allowed

If the Used Space reaches 100% on a link, data exporting stops until data has been imported, even if there is still free disk space available. This is further illustrated below:

Stage 1

During a migration, view progress on individual mappings on the Stage 1 page. As with many of the screens in Migration Manager for Email Archives, you can customize the columns shown on this page, and apply filters and sorts.

NOTE: The Stage 1 page is one of several pages that allows auto-refresh to be configured. You’ll learn how to configure this later in this guide. There are more details about the Stage 1 page in the sections below.

Giving Migration Manager for Email Archives more work to do

In some migrations, all mappings are already configured and enabled for migration. In most migrations this won’t be the case, and additional mappings will need to be created and enabled for migration.

There are several ways to do this, which we will cover now.
