Wait for Item Update

During migration to SharePoint Online, the on-premises Nintex Workflow action "Wait for item update" will be transformed into the Nintex Online Workflow action "Wait for Field Change in Current Item".

The following differences related to parameters and configuration should be noted:

On-premises Parameter

"Wait for" references

An equivalent parameter for "User profiles" and "Workflow constants" is not available and therefore this configuration will be lost.

Comparison Operator

Only the "to equal" operator is available in the online equivalent action.  All other operators will be lost.

For additional possible differences, please refer to the General Workflow Objects section.

Orphaned Users Copy

Orphaned Users Copy is an optional function that allows the software to maintain the metadata associated with user accounts that are no longer active within SharePoint. These user accounts are typically those that have been either disabled or deleted from the Active Directory with references to them still existing in the source SharePoint (for example, Created/Modified By) and using default SharePoint functionality.

NOTE: The Orphaned Users Copy function must be performed on a site collection by site collection basis, meaning it cannot be used during a Create/Promote to New Site Collection operation and it has to be used prior to the migration of any data.

NOTE: Orphaned Users Copy currently supports a destination of SharePoint 2007, 2010, 2013,  2016 and SharePoint Online.

To use this option:

1.Orphaned Users Copy is considered an Advanced Option in Metalogix and first needs to be enabled in the application.  Navigate to the Help tab in Essentials. Select Profile Manager.

NOTE: that Advanced Mode enables other functions which you may notice throughout the application.

5.In the Copy Orphaned Users window, click Select Source to choose between SharePoint, File System or CSV file for your source system.

§SharePoint requires a site or site collection URL. You may be asked to enter user authentication information.

§File System requires a local or mapped path.
orphaned user copy6

§CSV requires the loading of a pre-configured single column CSV user list.

6.After the source has successfully connected, enter the target URL to your SharePoint site or site collection and click Connect to authenticate.

7.Optionally, a user mapping file can also be loaded if the orphaned source user account needs to be remapped to an approriate account in the destination.  For example, an orphaned user in the source may look like 'contoso\joe' however your destination may be in a different domain like 'newContoso'.  If remapping is not applied, the account in the destination will still be referenced as 'contoso\joe' rather than 'newContoso\joe'.  Re-mapping will allow the new domain 'newContoso' to be used rather than the original from the source.

8.The Analyze option on the bottom should now become available.  When clicked, the application will analyze the source and target locations to determine the list of users which have been determined to be orphaned.  These users will appear in the table when the operation has completed.

NOTE: the time requirements vary greatly depending on the complexity of the environments, the amount of data and the total number of users.  This may take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to conclude, plan accordingly.

9.When one or more users are selected from the results table, the Transfer Orphaned Users option will now become available. Clicking this option will begin the process of taking the selected users from the source and transferring them to the destination (with or without using the remapping file as defined above.)  Please note that clicking Close without taking any action will exit the dialog, no users will be transferred and the entire operation will need to be completed again from the beginning.

Preserving Content Authorship and Approve/Reject Statuses

Essentials Migrator allows you to preserve core authorship properties during any tagging and copy/move operation without any additional software or agents.

NOTE: The user executing the migration must be a site owner in the target environment in order to retain created/modified properties.

For lists with Content Approval enabled, an option is provided to either retain the created/modified properties or the content approval status. To access this option do the following:

1.Select the Help tab in Essentials, and choose Profile Manager from the top ribbon.

2.In the Profile Manager, select Copy List or Copy Site from the left hand pane. Scroll down to Authorship and select your choice of Authorship from the drop down list provided.

3.Click Apply to apply your changes before you close the Profile Manager window.

NOTE: By installing the optional web service, you can preserve both created/modified properties AS WELL AS content approval status. The default behavior is to have either one or the other. This is the only behavior in Office 365 or hosted environments where the web service can't be installed.

There are several scenarios where created/modified properties may not be preserved.  Here is a list of these scenarios.

·Some created/modified by accounts are not preserved, while created/modified information is retained - this indicates that the users do not exist or are disabled in the target environment's Active Directory.  A listing of these users can be generated using Security Manager.  You may remap these users to other accounts using the User Mapping feature.

·Created/Modified properties are not preserved for minor versions of items in a versioned list - this is due to a limitation in SharePoint APIs.  Where possible, users may choose to install the Essentials web service to resolve this issue.

·Created/Modified properties are not preserved when migrating to certain service pack versions of SharePoint 2007 -  this is due to a limitation in SharePoint APIs.  Where possible, users may choose to install the Essentials web service to resolve this issue.

Reprocess Failed Items

NOTE: This feature is only available for File Share and SharePoint use.

This feature enables users to save a special CSV log file which contains only items that have encountered errors and failed during a copy operation.  Once the errors are corrected, the CSV file containing those files can be reprocessed successfully.

1.Once a copy operation has completed, click View log.

2.Save the special CSV file by clicking Reprocess Failed Items.

3.Correct the errors which caused the items to fail during the initial copy operation.

4.Back in the Navigator, right click on your target site and choose "Use CSV to" and then select "Upload/Copy Content" to re-copy the files contained in the CSV.
reprocess 2

5. In the Upload or copy content using CSV window, enter the path to the CSV file.  Select the items to be copied and click Finish.
