Updating Self-Service Workstations After an Upgrade from a Version Earlier Than

To update Self-Service workstations after an upgrade from a version earlier than

Use the information in the following table to determine the appropriate action to take for each workstation that you want to update.

If you want to ...

Then ...

continue to allow Self-Service migration to be used by the workstation's local administrator only

Run a workstation update twice:

·the first time to Update Metalogix Content Matrix Console(s).

·the second time to Update Application Files only.

allow non-admin users to perform Self Service migrations from the workstation

remove then re-add the workstation.

NOTE:  It is important the certificate is redeployed as part of the update so that Metalogix Content Matrix can install it for the machine (prior to version it was installed for the user), which will allow non-admin users to perform Self-Service migrations from the workstation.

Refreshing an Agent or Workstation

To refresh an agent or workstation:

1.From the Manage Agents or Manager Workstations dialog, select the agent or workstation whose status you want to refresh.

2.Click Refresh Agent or Refresh Workstation.

The information about the selected machine is re-queried from the Distributed Database and presented in the list. For example, if the state of the machine has changed since the previous refresh and the dialog is still open, the Status of the selected machine will change.

NOTE: A refresh also occurs whenever the Manage Agents or Manage Workstation dialog is opened.

Removing an Agent or Workstation

NOTE: When an agent or workstation is removed, the agent or workstation definition is deleted from the Distributed Database. The Metalogix Content Matrix Console, the application file mappings and License files are not removed from the agent or workstation machine.

1.From the Manage Agents or Manage Workstations dialog, select the agent or workstation you want to remove.

2.Click Remove Agent or Remove Workstation.

A dialog displays asking you to confirm the removal.

Disabling Self-Service Job Execution

You can disable Self-Service workstations from running migrations without actually deleting the workstations from the Self-Service configuration.

NOTE:  Currently, this option will disable job execution for all Self-Service workstations.  Any Self-Service jobs currently queued for execution will still run.

To disable Self-Service job execution:

From the Manage Manage Workstations dialog, choose Disable Job Execution.

Self Service Disable Workstation

Values in the Job Execution Allowed column for all workstations will change from Yes to No.

When workstations are disabled and a Self-Service user attempt to run a migration, a pop-pup message will display informing the user that the job cannot be run.
