Adding an Agent or Workstation

To add an agent or workstation:

1.From the Manage Agents or Manage Workstations dialog, click Add Agent or Add Workstation.

Distributed Migration Add Agent

1.In the Agent Name or Workstation Name field, enter the name of the physical or virtual machine to set up as a Distributed Migration agent or Self-Service workstation.

Alternatively, click [Browse] and select from any of the listed computers. The computers that are listed are networked computers and not necessarily Metalogix Content Matrix agents or workstations. Contact your system administrator if you are not sure which machine should be selected.

2.In the IP Address field, enter the Internet Protocol identifier of the physical or virtual machine you want to add.

NOTE:  If the name you entered can be resolved successfully, the IP Address field is automatically filled. If you have entered a both a Name  and IP Address field manually, and both values resolve to a valid physical or virtual machine, then the value specified in the IP Address field will take precedence.

3.Specify the machine credentials in the Connect As section as follows:

a)In the User Name field enter the down-level logon name of the windows administrator to access the machine. For example, enter 'mydomain\administrator'.

b)In the Password field, enter the password required for authentication.

NOTE: The credentials will be saved to the Windows Vault on the Controller machine. The credentials will be updated if the specifications are edited. For more information, please see Editing an Agent or Workstation. The  credentials will be deleted when the machine is removed from Distributed Database. For more information, please see Removing an Agent or Workstation.

4.Click the [Browse] button by the Location field and choose a security certificate (PFX file) to deploy to the machine.

5.Enter the password for the security certificate in the Password field.

6.Click [Connect].

This action adds the agent or workstation to the Distributed Database and copies the Metalogix Content Matrix installer files, Application Mapping files, and the licensing file to the specified machine.  The Metalogix Content Matrix Console is silently installed and configured on the selected machine.  (For Self-Service Migration the simplified SharePoint Edition of the Console is installed on the workstation.  For Distributed Migration, all editions are installed on the agent.)

The new agent or workstation appears in the list in the Manage Agents or Manage Workstations dialog. The Status value is 'Configuring'.
