Mounting Metalogix Full Farm Backup

The Metalogix Full Farm Backup option allows you to mount content databases on farm backups that have been taken by the Metalogix Backup for SharePoint product.

In order to Mount a Metalogix Full Farm Backup, do the following:

1.In the Metalogix Backup for SharePoint Management Console, in the left pane, click Granular Restore.

2.Launch the Mount and Link Content Database wizard by doing one of the following:

·Select Mount and Link CDB from the top menu.

·Select File, and choose the Mount and Link CDB option.

·Select the Import and Mount tab and choose the Mount and Link Content Database option.

3.Click Next in the Welcome page.

4.On the Source Type page, select Metalogix Full Farm Backup as the content database source type. Click Next.

5.On the Target SQL Server page, enter the name of a SQL Server, or Browse for one. Either use the backup service credentials or enter the server's credentials. Click Next.

6.On the Backup Objects page, select a Backup Set from the Full Farm Backup Sets available in the drop down box. Select the content database that you wish to mount. Click Next.

7.On the Options page, give the content database mount a name and a description. Click Next.

8.On the Target Farm page, select the target farm. Click Next.

9.On the Summary page, click Mount in order to mount the Metalogix Full Farm Backup.

10.You can now access the Mounted database and restore content via the Granular Restore tab.

Mounting a SQL Server Backup (BAK) File

The SQL Server Backup (BAK) File option mounts databases from a SQL server .BAK files. This option includes full, differential, and transaction log backups. You can mount several .BAK files of the same content database.

In order to Mount a SQL Server Backup File, do the following:

1.In the Metalogix Backup for SharePoint Management Console, in the left pane, click Granular Restore.

2.Launch the Mount and Link Content Database wizard by doing one of the following:

·Select Mount and Link CDB from the top menu.

·Select File, and choose the Mount and Link CDB option.

·Select the Import and Mount tab from the left hand panel, and choose the Mount and Link Content Database option.

3.Click Next on the Welcome page.

4.On the Source Type page, select SQL Server Backup (BAK) File - including full, differential, and transaction logs,  as the content database source type. Click Next.

5.On the Target SQL Server page, enter the name of a SQL Server, or Browse for one. Either use the backup service credentials or enter the server's credentials. Click Next.

6.On the BAK Import Options page, select the way in which you would like to locate full backups, differential backups, and transaction logs.

If you selected Browse directly to Backup files please continue to this page for further instructions.

 

Search for Backup

1.On the Search SQL Backup page, use the available search parameters to find specific full, differential, and transition log backups. You can search by name, date, backup type, SQL Server. Select a Backup and click Next.

2.On the Options page, enter a Content Database Mount Name, and a Content Database Mount Description. Select the location for the SQL data files from the drop down list, and enter the Password and/or Media Password for any backups that were created with passwords. Click Next to continue.

3.On the Target Farm page, select the target farm. Click Next.

4.On the Summary Page, click Mount in order to mount the BAK File.

5.You can now access the Mounted database and restore content via the Granular Restore tab.

 

Browse for Backup

1.On the File Location page, click Add to add a backup file. You may add multiple backup files but they must be on the same content database. Click Next.

2.On the Options page, enter a Content Database Mount Name, and a Content Database Mount Description. Select the location for the SQL data files from the drop down list, and enter the Password and/or Media Password for any backups that were created with passwords. Click Next to continue.
