Metalogix Archive Manager for Exchange 8.1.1 - Universal Access Guide

Installation

To allow Archive Manager Universal Access for users, this feature must be installed and configured in your environment. The process is detailed further in this manual.

Universal Access feature consists of two components:

·IMAP Server for Archive Manager – this service processes IMAP requests from clients and outputs responses for these requests

·IMAP Wcf Service – communicates with Archive Manager for Exchange to provide access to Archive Manager for Exchange for IMAP Server

Each component can be installed on separate machine even out of Archive Manager for Exchange domain.

 

Software prerequisites

·.NET Framework 4.5

·Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and higher

·Archive Manager for Exchange 7.0 and higher in the environment

·Database in the environment (MS SQL Server 2008 and higher or Oracle 11g, 12c and 18c)

·ORACLE PREREQUISITES: ODAC 12.1.0.24 and higher must be installed.

 

Supported clients for Universal Access:

 

·Outlook 2013

·Outlook 2016

·Outlook 2019

·Mozilla Thunderbird 31.5.0 and above

·Android KitKat - default email client

·Android Lollipop - default email client

·Android Marshmallow - default email client

·Blackberry 10 - default email client

·iOS 9.2 and above - default email client

·Windows 10 (mobile) - default email client

Archive Manager Universal Access setup is available as separate setup.

 

To install Universal Access feature using separate setup, follow the next steps:

1.Run the Disc \ Metalogix \ Archive Manager Installation Package \ Universal Access \ Universal Access Setup.exe.

On the Welcome page click Next.

On the License Agreement page read the terms and if you agree, click Yes to continue. Click Next.

Then review the destination location and if necessary, change the directory. Click Next.

2.On the Select Features dialog it is possible to select the service you want to install on the given machine. Usually, both are installed on one machine, but in some cases each can be installed on a separate location.

Click Next.

3.On the Logon Information page enter user and password under which the feature will be installed.

4.Next allow installer to add selected Archive Manager Universal Access services to the Windows Firewall Exception list. Archive Manager components will be then able to communicate through the firewall. Click Next. Then click Install.

5.The universal access feature will be installed. Click Finish and continue with configuration.

 

Configuration

 

When the installation finishes – either separate setup or installation package – you will be prompted to configure the feature in Archive Manager Configuration tool. All options are described in detail in the following lines:

 

1.The configuration tool pops-up. Depending on your environment you may see several tabs on the left navigation pane. However, only the Universal Access tab is relevant for Universal Access configuration. Click it to start configuring the feature.

NOTE: If only IMAP Wcf Service component has been selected at the installation, just the Universal Access/IMAP Service tab is applicable (see the step 6). Other tabs – Database and IMAP Server– are to be configured on the machine where the IMAP Server for Archive Manager component is installed.

2.Click the Configure button. If you have an MS SQL server as a database provider, select the respective radio button and click Next. If you are using an Oracle database choose the other radio button and click Next.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Configuration tool can create the MS SQL database in the specified SQL Server. Oracle database must be available in advance.

3.In the next window you have to fill in the text fields as follows:

 

·If you have Microsoft SQL Server

Server name - name of the SQL server

Initial catalog - name of the Archive Manager database (e.g. exchangeDB) – existing or to be created

Schema Name - name of the SQL Schema where Archive Manager tables will be created

Authentication – authentication type used for the database

User name - database login user (the one you are using as a table owner – e.g. Administrator)

Password - password of the above database login

IMPORTANT NOTE: When updating Archive Manager from one version to another you must NOT change the following values in the Configuration tool on any of the tabs:

oServer Name

oInitial Catalog

oTable Owner

In case of an ORACLE database, do NOT change ORACLE NET name and Schema.

 

§If you have ORACLE

ORACLE NET Name - ORACLE NET name, TNS name

Schema - the name of the schema where Archive Manager tables will be created

User Name - log-on user for the HSM database (with read and write rights to the tables)

Password - log-on user’s password

 

ORACLE PREREQUISITES: Proper version of ODAC (depends on version of Oracle) must be installed and Environment Variable TNS_ADMIN must be set to the directory, where file TNSNAMES.ora containing TNS name above is located.

4.Back on the Universal Access tab run the sql scripts by clicking Execute Scripts. The list of the scripts will appear. Click Next.

·In case of SQL Authentication, click Next once more to accept the database login user and its password.

5.Click Next to execute the scripts.

 

6.The IMAP Service tab is used to configure IMAP Wcf Service details.

Fill in the following fields:

Web connection – this field specifies the connection to IMAP Wcf Service. The default value:

net.tcp://localhost:8083/IMAP4MAMWcfService

should be customized. To do so, replace the <localhost> with the IP address of the machine where the IMAP Wcf Service is installed. If it is installed on the current machine, <localhost> will work as well. However, we recommend to use the IP address in this case as well.

 

The following two fields are available only if IMAP Server for Archive Manager component has been selected at the installation:

·Access point – here enter the connection details of exchangePAMWS component on your Archive Manager server. The default value is:

 

http://<localhost>/exchangePAMWS/exchangePAMWS.asmx

 

where <localhost> should be replaced by the IP address of your Archive Manager server.

 

·Machine name – you Archive Manager server name

NOTE: If Universal Access feature is installed on a separate machine (not on Archive Manager or HSM server), use the “localhost” instead.

 

 

7.The IMAP Server tab is applicable only the machine where IMAP Server for Archive Manager component has been installed.

Visible host – enter the name of the machine where IMAP Server for Archive Manager component is installed

NOTE: If it  is installed on a separate machine (not on Archive Manager or HSM server), use the “localhost” instead.

Max connections – max number of clients using Universal Access

IMAP Server location & Host port – enter the FQN of the machine where IMAP Server for Archive Manager component is installed;

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Port needs to be changed only if SSL communication is used. In such cases enter 993.

HSM Server – enter the IP address of the machine where HSM server is installed

Use SSL/TSL settings – check if you are using SSL communication

 

If SSL communication is used, configure certification details (otherwise these options can be ignored). Choose storage location of certificate:

oCertificate store location

oFile system

 

Certificate path – applicable only for Certificate store option; select the location of your certificate in registry (CurrentUser or LocalMachine)

Search cache – click the Browse button to specify path to the certificate or certificate in store

Certificate password – fill in if applicable

8.Finally, the Configuration Test tab allow you to test your configuration. Check the check box for the test you want to run and click the Run selected tests button. The results will be displayed in the results log.

Please note that Test Archive Manager connector service is available only when the IMAP Server for Archive Manager component is installed.

Test IMAP Backend Service is available only when the IMAP Wcf Service component is installed.
