This metric reflects whether the database loader process has exceeded preset limits that control the amount of time it can take to write metric records into the database during a five minute interval. In normal operations, the value of this metric is 0 indicating that the database loader is writing 100% of the metrics that the agent is collecting. A metric value greater than 0 indicates that the agent is discarding some metrics due to the high level of load it is encountering. To remedy this situation, you may need to limit the number of servers the appliance is monitoring or modify configuration to reduce the number of unique URLs being generated.
This metric is generated by the database loader after it has written out metric data for each five minute interval. If the time taken to write out that data exceeds preset limits, the value of this metric is incremented.
This metric indicates the number of hits that have been discarded from the interface with Foglight Experience Viewer in the last five-minute interval. The following is a list of possible causes of discarded hits:
NOTE: The Foglight Experience Viewer also reports discards in its own web console. That metric is based on hits that are discarded by Foglight Experience Viewer, not by Foglight Experience Monitor. The discarded hits count reported in Foglight Experience Monitor’s and Foglight Experience Viewer’s respective consoles do not match up, unless by coincidence.
