RESOLUTION:
Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is the practice of hosting a desktop operating system within a virtual machine (VM) running on a centralized server.
According to Stat 5.7.1 release notes the following are the only supported OS for Stat client installation:
Windows XP Professional (current SP recommended), Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 - 32bit or 64-bit
Client installation on virtual machine has not been tested or certified by Stat development department, same as VDI that you mentioned in your note in SR. So you may be able to install the client and run it on virtual machine but if you have issues with the client on virtual machine support may ask you to install the client on a non-virtual machine to see whether or not the issue exists. In the attached Stat 5.7.2 release notes you will see a section called " Non-certified platforms" . In this secton you will see the following URL that explains Support policy on virtualization:
https://support.quest.com/essentials/questsupport-guide.
Once you access this URL mouse click on "Software Support Guide (PDF)" and search for " virtualization" and you should see Support policy on virtualization.
