"Runtime Error 216" and "Quest.Tuning.SQLSvr.Main has encountered a problem..." when trying to (4309579)

Was able to Optimize and execute alternatives for a complex query successfully. However, when trying to produce a report the following error occurred:

"Quest.Tuning.SQLSvr.Main has encountered a problem and needs to close" followed by

"Runtime error 216"

Steps leading up to error:

1. Auto Optimize (All Records) 
2. Batch Run (All Records)
3. Click on Compare
4. Click on Report
    

Memory issue due to many alternatives with long execution plans.
