The "Drop Plan Table" or "Create Plan Table" dialogue or pop-up window needs to be displayed or unhidden in order to process it.
When SQL Optimizer hangs or freezes, perform the following steps accurately.
1) Press and hold the Alt Key, then press the Tab Key, and keep pressing the Tab Key until the selection "lands" on the "Drop Plan Table" or "Create Plan Table" icon.
2) Ensure you do not click or press anything.
3) Next, press the Keyboard Arrow Keys (up, down, left, right) some number of times.
4) Next, move your Mouse (still do not click on anything).
5) You may notice an 'outline' of a window moving along with your Mouse Pointer.
6) Now click the Mouse button once. That should make the "Drop Plan Table" or "Create Plan Table" appear or show.
