Steps to reproduce:
Database: 10g with characterset WE8ISO8859P1
NLS_LANGUAGE set to american_america.MSWIN1252
1. Enable output spooling
2. Execute the following PL/SQL block in an sql editor:
declare
begin
-- this line gets dropped
dbms_output.put_line( rpad( 'x', 4095, 'x' ) );
-- works as expected
dbms_output.put_line( rpad( 'x', 4094, 'x' ) );
end;
Expected result: two lines full of 'x'es
Actual result: one line full of 'x'es
According to Oracle docs of the DBMS_OUTPUT package, the limit for line length is 32767 *bytes*.
