Title

The SQL Activity Sessions tab shows multiple sessions of Spotlight in running state.
Description

The SQL Activity Sessions tab shows multiple sessions of Spotlight in running state. This causes excessive CPU on the monitored server.
Cause

The sessions reported are from xp_readerrorlog. The 2008 instance is facing an issue reported by SQL Server causing high CPU consumption.

Resolution

RESOLUTOIN 1:
Apply the recommended instance cumulative update package to 10.0.2734.
RESOLUTION 2:
In Spotlight disable the Error Log collections:
1. Select Configure | Scheduling option and choose the instance name from top drop down lost.
2. Scroll down to 'Error Log Scan - Detailed' and 'Error Log Scan - Summary' collections and edit them.
3. Uncheck all checkboxes and click OK.
