Title

Spotlight is taking up TempDB space in particular instances.
Description

User has a 2008R2 instance that is having it's tempdb space being eaten up by Spotlight. If they kill the Spotlight SPID and let it reconnect they get the space released. However, it continues to grow each day. If they let it go for a few days it will consume up to 17.6GB of Tempdb space.
Resolution

WORKAROUND:
Right-click on connection name from connection tree to select Properties option. Under Details tab, disable “Store SQL Text and query Plan in Playback” option and click OK.
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in future release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise.
