Error "Diagnostic server unavailable" -
Description
The install of the diagnostic server was correct. There are no network problems, but when starting it states: diagnostic server unavailable.

Cause
Permission issue.

Resolution
On the PC where you are running Spotlight for SQL Server, add the Windows login user to the Spotlight Diagnostic Administrators group on the Diagnostic Server.

Additional Information
For non-domain environments, make sure the user account used by the diagnostic server is a local admin on the box and that the same account (username and password) is also a local admin on the box that is being monitored. This will allow the diagnostic server to connect and authenticate to the other box even though they are not within a domain.
