Monitoring SQL Server instance that sat on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 gave the following error 2 to 3 weeks.
Cannot connect to Windows host '<host-name>' : WMI query 'Win32_Volume' failed:.

The following was tried but the same alarm keeps occurring.
winmgmt /clearadap
winmgmt /resyncperf
Wmiadap /f
Wmiadap /r
Spotlight requires Windows WMI to function properly in order for it work proper. Any WMI reoccurring alarm may indicate a problem that must be resolved on the Windows WMI end.
If running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 and this alarm is coming up every 2 to 3 weeks, please consult the following KB from Microsoft, which mayhelp with this issue.
