After failing over the SQL Server instance, many of the performance counters are not shown. Rather, I get a little exclamation point with the error:
Messages
Metric: Number of System SQL Server sessions
The following error occurred while collecting data
The user does not have permission to perform this action. [297] [Error Code: 297].

Resolution

Please try restarting the "Quest Diagnostic Server" in Windows Services and see if that solves the problem.
