The I/O diagnostic data is optionally collected and saved to playback when the I/O Wait Time alarm fires with a high severity. However by default the option is off.
- Open the Alarms editor.
- Locate the I/O Wait Time alarm
- Check Override the default settings.
- Check Collect additional diagnostic information.
- Click OK to save the alarm changes.
Please note after this is enabled, the I/O diagnostic data will be saved the next time the I/O Wait Time alarm is raised with a high severity.
The thresholds of the alarm may need to be adjusted to ensure the high severity is meaningful for the environment. Having the alarm fire too often can cause additional load on the server because there are several I/O diagnostic data collection scripts run each time it fires.
