Description
While trying to connect the following error occurs:
soo5049: The following error occurred in <connection name> during connection:
ORA-12705: Invalid or unknown NLS parameter specified.
The connection will be disconnected. -
Cause
Using Oracle client version 7.x

Resolution
The Oracle client version 7.x is not supported with Spotlight version 4.5.
Upgrade the an Oracle client version the same or higher than your Oracle database version. -
Additional Information
From the Release Notes about the system requirements:
Oracle 8.x.x, Oracle 9.x.x , Oracle 10g (full client or Instant Client)
You must have the Database Administrator (DBA) user ID and password for the database you want to diagnose. Spotlight also requires that the version of the Oracle client be the same or later than the version of any Oracle database being diagnosed. For example, to connect to an Oracle 9i database, you must use an Oracle 9i client or later.
Note: Spotlight on Oracle 4.5 will NOT allow you to connect to an Oracle 7 database. Spotlight on Oracle 3.9 was the final release that supported Oracle 7.
