Spotlight 4.5 freezes up during connection phase.
With default settings the IO queries should not run in SoO 4.5. However, if the user upgrades to SoO 4.5 from a previous version, under certain circumstances the might profile be created with S-1-5-21-2415609419-1006158810-2987274526-2231.scx file from the previous SoO version, even though the profile was created in SoO 4.5. This can cause the IOEvent query to still run.
Uninstall Spotlight on Oracle via Quest Installer under Start | Programs | Quest Software | Quest Installer. Then make sure to delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight
C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Quest Central\Spotlight
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Quest Software\Spotlight
C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user_name></your_user_name>\Application Data\Quest Software\Spotlight
Then re-install Spotlight on Oracle 4.5. If this doesnt resolve the problem, please open a support case and request the QCClean utility to cleanup the existing installation and do a fresh install of Spotlight on Oracle 4.5
