When trying to install Toad the following error message is received:
"Failed to open archive file... Invalid Archive Signature."
CAUSE 1:
Corrupt installer file downloaded.
CAUSE 2:
Usually occurs when using a domain Administrator user to install Toad and it does not have real full admin rights due to certain or company specific Windows Security or Policies in effect in the domain network.
CAUSE 3:
User is using the packer.exe on the ComponentSetup.exe file.
RESOLUTION 1:
Download the installation file again from the Quest Software download site. Click on the product below that you would like to download.
Toad for Oracle
Toad for DB2
Toad for SQL Server
SQL Navigator
Toad Data Point
RESOLUTION 2:
Download the installation again to your Windows "Desktop" location. Run the installation file from your Windows "Desktop" location as well.
RESOLUTION 3:
Use other web browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, etc., and download the installation file again.
RESOLUTION 4:
Use Winzip or WinRar to extract the ComponentSetup.exe file instead of the Packer.exe utility.
RESOLUTION 5:
Download the MSI installation file, "Toad for Oracle x.x .MSI Installer" from Quest's website, where x.x is the version number. User the MSI file to install, instead of the EXE file.
Use the link in RESOLUTION 1 for the appropriate product.
RESOLUTION 6:
Download the installation file from another computer located in a different network i.e. home computer then use a USB drive or CD to move the file.
RESOLUTION 7:
a. Open command prompt
b. Extract the individual product installers:
"Toad DBA Suite for Oracle Commercial.exe" /extract
c. Supply the folder where you want the files extracted.
d. Now install the required software from the extract folder individually.
Ensure the Windows user account has local administrator rights on the machine. Try downloading the Toad installation file in your "Desktop" location and run it from there as well.
