When running ora_setup as a part of Shareplex install, the following error messages occur:
./ora_setup
Welcome to the Oracle SharePlex setup process.
This process creates tables and user accounts needed to run
Oracle SharePlex replication.
Please note the following:
** In response to prompts, a carriage return will choose the default
given in brackets. If there is no default, a reply must be entered.
** To exit the program while the program is waiting for input, use the
CTRL-C key sequence.
This sequences can be entered by holding down the CONTROL key and
pressing the C key.
Enter the Oracle SID for which SharePlex should be installed [SID1] :
In order to create the SharePlex tables and user account, we must
connect to the database as SYSTEM. The SYSTEM account must have
SYSDBA privileges.
Enter password for the SYSTEM account, which will not echo [MANAGER] :password (where password is the actual password for manager, which is not echoed on the screen as shown in this solution, for privacy reasons)

There may be issues with Bequeath.
As a workaround try to establish a SQL*Net connection instead of the Bequeath. To do this, run ora_setup and specify the passwords for SYSTEM and user when prompted by appending the password with @<connect string>. For example, in the following screen shot of ora_setup:
Enter password for the SYSTEM account, which will not echo [MANAGER]:password@connectstring (note that password refers to the actual password entered whereas connectstring is the <connect string> mentioned above, and you can see that it succeeded)

validating user name and password. . . This may take a few seconds.
SharePlex objects will need to be created under a special
account. You can pick an existing user or create a new one.
Current SharePlex user is : SPLEX
Likewise, one can specify the password for Shareplex user along with the connect string so as to use SQL*Net.
Starting with SharePlex 8.6.2, it is no longer required to append the password with the connect string in SQL*net environment. Please refer to the knowledgebase article #184662 for details.
