General information.

The queue structure in Open Target is same as that in an Oracle target so reconcile also works in an Open Target Post queue. For instruction on using the reconcile command, please refer to the Adminstrator's Guide.

The Reconcile command mostly serves the purpose of removing committed messages up to a particular redo log sequence # or SCN # from the Post queue. This helps in first time sync of target when the replication is first established. It also helps in subsequent resync of the target, if it becomes out of sync. The command is also used to remove unwanted messages from a stopped Post queue if the SCN # or the redo log sequence # up to which the messages need to be removed is known. These usually occur during some maintenance activity or to address some user error. If using reconcile in an Open Target in SharePlex versions lower than 8.6.6, there is a bug. If there is an activation done on source and that activation message needs to be processed by reconcile, it may create the Post object cache with wrong name. The issue has since been fixed in SharePlex 8.6.6.
