When issuing “show compare” immediately after a compare is issued from sp_ctrl, the following messages are observed:
sp_ctrl > compare table owner.source_table to owner.target_table target target_host@o.target_SID
sp_ctrl > show compare
Host: host_name
No active or completed comparisons to show.
Either the command never was issued, or the compare reports and log files
necessary to provide this information have been removed from the system.
The “show compare” has been issued too soon.
Most likely the “show compare” was issued soon after the compare was issued and the events that cause the compare server to be created, the compare client to be launched, the respective logs to be generated are yet to spawn. It may be noted that compare takes some time to initialize before its stats can be viewed.
The command “show compare” when subsequently issued will succeed once the compare processes have spawned and the stats are available.
This only applies to a specific scenario and there can be other reasons for “show compare” to give above errors.
