How does the new parameter SP_OCT_OLOG_USE_OCI work? (4281933)

SharePlex always has the ability to replicate remote database that uses Oracle ASM.  With version 9.1 and this parameter, SP_OCT_OLOG_USE_OCI,  we can replicate any supported remote Oracle databases.  This would include database on Amazon RDS as well.  Please reference the release note for the supported Oracle version.

When to setup SP_OCT_OLOG_USE_OCI?

Anytime you have the need to setup replication for a remote database as a source including an Amazon RDS Oracle instance. 

Note: You can select your remote database source when you run ora_setup, when you are asked if you want to use a bequeath connection, type "N" and select between the two remote database options (RDS or TNS).

Please select RDS for Amazon RDS, for another type of remote source, select TNS.

To set the parameter:

sp_ctrl> set param SP_OCT_OLOG_USE_OCI 1

Parameter deprecate: SP_OCT_ASM_USE_OCI

If you are using this parameter, SharePlex will still honor it on this version, SharePlex version 9.1, please change it to the new parameter when possible.
