It is possible to do so starting with Shareplex 8.6.2 and up. The command is as follows:
sp_ctrl>activate config SCN=<starting SCN #>
This provides users with more granularity as far as the starting point of replication is concerned. The default activation (meaning no starting point is specified) starts gathering changes from the current online/archived redo log and the current SCN #. The option is also handy when attempting to gather the changes from a point in time in the past by specifying the SCN # from the past. However, when doing this, ensure that the old archive logs starting with that SCN # are available for Shareplex’ Capture process so that it can gather those changes.
There is another option of activation that directs Shareplex to start gathering changes from a specified redo log as shown below:
sp_ctrl>activate config SEQNO=<redolog sequence #>
However, the SCN option goes one step further and lets user pinpoint the starting point of replication SCN wise and not just redo log wise.
