The resolution described below is only for Unix.
1. Check the ORACLE_SID entry in the configuration file. Make sure it is spelled correctly and is the same as environment variable $ORACLE_SID. Make the necessary changes and activate the config.
2. If this entry is correct then check /etc/oratab (or /var/opt/oratab if Solaris) to make sure that ORACLE_SID that is specified in the config file exists in the oratab file.
Shareplex reads the oratab file, looking for the sid name that is listed on the first line in the config file. If oratab file does not contain the sid as it is listed in the config file, then shareplex will not work. Please add an entry for Oracle_SID into the oratab file and retry activation. Make sure that valid ORACLE_HOME is listed in oratab for this sid entry. The location of oratab is:
/etc (in most Unix flavors)
/var/opt/oracle (in Solaris)
