The information in this article applies to:
Security Explorer Version 7.5
SYMPTOM:
In Security Explorer 7.x releases before v7.5, user-created data was saved to the Security Explorer installation folder. As a result, this information was visible to any user of Security Explorer when the host computer was shared by multiple users.
In Security Explorer 7.5, data files are created within each user’s individual profile so that when Security Explorer is installed on a computer shared by multiple administrators, each user will see only the information that they have created.
CAUSE:
Uninstalling SXP 7.2 leaves the files listed in the table in the program’s installation folder. Upgrading to SXP 7.5 from an earlier version will not delete these files, but the information held in the files cannot be used until they are copied to a user’s profile.
Other “Persistent Data” (e.g., window size, Outlook style menu size, etc.) are not user specific and are not retained.
*Exists only if a SharePoint Farm or Site has been added through the SXP UI.
RESOLUTION:
If open, close Security Explorer 7.5.
Copy the ‘Saved Searches’ folder and the XML files noted above from the installation folder to each user profile that will use the information. For example:
Old Location (default)
New Location
Windows Server 2003/R2 Windows XP | C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application Data\ScriptLogic Corporation\Security Explorer\v7 |
Windows Server 2008/R2 Windows 7 Windows Vista | C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\ScriptLogic Corporation\Security Explorer\v7 |
